Next 3 Big Names in Music: The Girls

Hey everyone. Sorry it's been so long since my last post. I have actually been kind of...busy? Wow. That's a first, right? But anyways this week I'm going to do three blogs about newcomers in music. Today will focus on the girls. And this week you will see two more about the Guys and the Bands. Now here are the three girls who I think are going to be huge (and may already be on their way).

Sara Bareilles

With her album Little Voice already in the Top 10 Albums on Bilboard, this girl is definitely on her way. Her song entitled "Love Song" is already very popular. Contrary to the belief of her being labeled a "one hit wonder", I believe that she will surpass that and become a musical legend. Sure it's early, but I think she has the potential to be a great musician. Singer-songwriters are always very popular with me and hopefully, with the rest of the world. I plan on seeing her in April and I don't think I will be disappointed. With a major push from the Rhapsody commercial, Sara has definitely made a name for herself and will continue making great music.

Kate Nash

"You said I must eat so many lemons, because I am so bitter, I said I'd rather be with your friends, mate, because they are much...fitter." God bless Kate Nash. Her music not only eases through the headphones, it transcends through the soul. After being relatively unknown to the public eye, she has skyrocketed into the mainstream with her powerful song "Foundations", which is soon to be a break-up song classic. She may have been out for a few years, but I believe Ms. Nash will be everywhere. Sure that might disappoint some die-hard fans but she totally deserves to be heard by all kinds of people. Plus, the cockney-British accent is a plus.

Leona Lewis
Sara's got the charm. Kate's got the attitude. Leona's got the voice. Critics are already comparing her to Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion (which aren't bad comparisons considering the vocal range of those artists). Leona was the winner of "The X Factor" (the British equivilant to American Idol) and is making a big name for herself. Her song "Bleeding Love" is climbing the charts and I recently caught her on Oprah. So even if you are not a fan of pop/R&B music, I would still definitely check out this artist, she is amazing and has one of the best voices to come out of this decade.

Well that, about it kids. Hope you check out my other posts. Feel free to comment. Take care.

Honest to blog.

So here's my Oscar recap:

Ellen Page lost.

Oh well. She's only 21 years old and I'm sure she will get another nomination in the future. She has become one of my all-time favorite actresses and is tied with two other women whom I love: Sara Bareilles and Natalie Portman.

On a good note, she did win the Independent Spirit award for Best Female Lead. I guess, in all honesty, that is a better award than the Oscar. Because "Juno" is an independent film and and little movies rarely get noticed at the Oscars which are jam-packed with big budget Hollywood films.

And as for the Oscar ceremony on it's own...what was with those hokey, Broadway-like "Enchanted" songs? Them songs got OSCAR nominations? I'm glad the song from "Once" got the win for Best Original Song.

But other than that, the Oscars was a fun experience and Jon Stewart was a good host who was ACTUALLY funny! I laughed once or twice....out loud.

I also want to check out the movie "The Savages", that movie looks interesting and I love Laura Linney. But yeah, that's about it kids, and until next time...I'm Clay Weininger. Blogger.

How to lose friends & alienate people

Picture this. Long hallway. Full of busy students. Suddenly, one drops their cell phone right in front of you. You pick it up...and get this response...

"WHAT THE HELL IS THE MATTER WITH YOU?!"

Yep. That's what happened to me. Trying to be generous and I get that angry question shoved in my face. I have no idea what's the matter with me. Maybe I'm too nice. And then I realized something.

I am too nice.

Maybe I should start being mean. Maybe that's what I should offer to people. But why do that when I know I am going to feel bad after committing such a dickhead act. And then I think of the phrase "nice guys finish last."

So I don't know. Did I lose friends over the fact that I am too nice? I came up with some facts that I have come to admire, because they have happened to me way too many times:

1. I help someone with a "crush" problem - it always ends up in my face. "Well Clay, you shouldn't have said that to them, now they hate me!"

2. Being nice over instant messenger = "leave me alone, Clay"

3. Asking people to go do something usually ends up in me giving them rides and then forgetting about the fact I actually EXIST. Then when the time comes to go home "Clay, where you at, let's go home!"

4. "Hey I have an idea!" says me "Clay that idea sucks!" says the other person.

5. I am impossible to forget, but I'm hard to remember

I refuse to stand under anyone's umbrella! (ella, ella, eh, eh, eh)

So yeah, I am such a bad blogger. I rarely update this thing. But I promise, this will get better! Life is has been pretty...I'll just leave it at pretty. Um, yeah, I FINALLY got to go back to school since the place was practically flooded (ah, gotta love Ohio!). I really don't get why every single has to wear "boots with the fur". What is up with that? Everywhere I go...I see them. And everywhere I *hear*...I hear "apple bottom jeans, boots with the fur"...guh. Wow, that was pretty random.

Anyways, tonight me and my best friend since...2nd grade? went to the library and I watched her do homework. Very insightful I might add. Then took an 8 mile trip to a BURGER KING! Yee-haw. Then I made the bad choice of consuming a Whopper Jr., Sour Patch Kids EXTREME, and 2 bottles of Yoohoo! Guh...all good on their own, but not together.

Other than that, nothing else is new. I live a very boring life. I once asked a girl who has a more boring life than mine and she replied "I fake drama". WTF? Hell, I couldn't fake drama on a good day, let alone make it a habit.

Any plans for the weekend? Good question. Might be filming a few scenes for my horror parody entitled "Hush". Pretty decent so far, but, you know how those things go.

And another thing, people always think that something is wrong with me. "What's wrong, Clay?" "Need some help, Clay?" "Clay you look down! Cheer up!" I am fine. I promise. Just making the rough transistion from high school to college. You're probably thinking "Christ Clay, it's Februrary, you think you would have gotten used to it by now." But hey, I am a person who takes a while to get used to things. I mean, you know how long it took me before I got used to the new Becky on "Roseanne". So yeah, keep your umbrellas away, I'm fine in the rain.

Ramble On

So yeah this is the first post in, like, five months or whatever. Nothing really is new. Just been kind of hanging out and doing nothing. Story of my life. Also, if you haven't already, go see the movie Juno. It will change your life. It did mine. Sorry I don't really have much else to say.

Always something there to remind me.

So, I guess this is what my new thing is. Blogspot. Oh well. I guess I can let people into my life one way or another.

For the ones that don't know me (which you all probably know me - people outside of the loop probably won't take the time to read about my life) my name is Clay. I live in the exciting town of Sycamore, Ohio with my parents...wow, that doesn't sound pathetic or anything. But yeah, I am a pretty average guy struggling with life's everday challenges.

I am currently attending Owens which isn't bad. Sure it's a community college, but its alot cheaper. Anyways, I haven't really made friends here yet, granted I'm only here about two hours everyday compared to the eight hours I was used to. College is way different from high school, yet the same. People still have their little groups but keep to themselves rather than jumping into other's drama which is a step up from high school.

As for my friends, I guess you can say I have alot of friends. I'm one of those people that know everyone. But I still have my close friends who are awesome. I couldn't ask for better best friends. Though sometimes I wonder if I will be friends with these guys my whole life, I hope I do because I love these guys. They are my heart and soul. But enough about them. You are all probably wondering my relationship status. Big shocker - I'm single. I have been single for like two years and I am getting sick of it. I am tired of relying on my friends to go do something because they are not always going to be there. But I guess I can't really complain. If I did, people would probably be x-ing out of this by now.

But yeah, that was pretty much my introduction to this blog. I hope you guys tune in. I should be writing one everyday. Because I have no life. There's usually something around that will remind me to do this damn thing. Take care.
